MOTIVATION THE CURE FOR PROCRASTINATION

July 25, 2009

Introduction

This fifteen letter long word has amongst many factors been the worst cause of mediocrity, indolence and lack of aspiration attributed to a lot of people in our planet.
This long word hinders many people from achieving anything worthwhile in this life. As a result of this setback, they are unable to archive meaningful objectives mainly because they refuse to take action.
They make it a habit to put things they ought to do immediately off as long as they could hoping to tackle the job or assignment at a more favourable future which of course we all know never really comes.
So days turns into weeks and weeks into months and months into years but the person remains in the grip of this word. This process continues until this habit forms in stone and becomes difficult to break.
The word gains a stranglehold on the neck of its captive as it totally saps their will to act on anything meaningful and rendering them incapable of initiating and completing any project no matter how easy the task my be.
Motivation enters

At this stage the need of the captive is for a quick solution that will free the person to enable him or her live a fulfilled life once again.
Because every action that has a beginning, must of a necessity have an end, motivation with less number of letters, but with a better sound to the ears comes to the rescue. And all the captive needed to do was to reach out for it in solace against the total powerlessness they once felt in the vice like grip of procrastination.
How does motivation tackle procrastination?

Motivation does this simply by appealing to the emotion of the captive to get him or her interested in a vocation, an assignment, a business proposal, a talent discovery or a hobby etc.
Motivation keeps the captive engaged in this new found love until the captive is totally consumed by this new love.
This sudden development of this new habit by the captive now creates a reawakening of his hitherto dead senses of living a purpose driven life.
As the captive comes to terms with the reality of his or her confinement and attempts to shake itself of the yoke of procrastination and wear the mantle of motivation, the death knell of procrastination rung.
Enter passion

Complete commitment and passion for the new way of life comes to a peak and the song of freedom reaches a crescendo as passion over runs procrastination by the announcement of the captives arrival on the scene to the world which hitherto never knew or heard about the person.
As motivation fuels passion, the captive regains all lost glory and the person now rules his world, his confidence grows leading to a bold declaration of his independence for ever.
Freedom expressed

The captive now restored, motivated and empowered to launch out in their new found vocation or assignment declares liberty excellence freedom at last.
Having won this battle the captive becomes a lethal weapon and spokes person against the cancer called procrastination.
A war the freed captive continues to wage in total commitment for excellence and productivity in his new name called passion.

DECISION THE TOOL THAT DETERMINES DESTINY

December 8, 2008

Introduction

In this life, everyone starts on an equal footing. What do I mean?

Except for those who had money left to them by benevolent parents or relatives, we all must create our own destiny. Henry Ford is quoted as saying “that if you think you can or you think you cannot you are right”. In other words, whatever you choose to make out of your life, it is up to you.

If you realize this truth, then you must know that life has no friend or foe. It goes the way you understand it. You become it’s friend to the extent you are able to master its principles.

One of lives most important key success factor is that you must decide to do something and make the commitment to accomplish what you have decided to do.

To identify the route to take towards achieving that which you have decided to do (your life’s purpose),requires asking yourself some pertinent questions such as:

* What exactly am I cut out to fulfill in this life?
* Why am I alive?
* Is it just to eat and drink, sleep and wake up, grow old and die?
* Is it to get married and have children?
* Is there more to this life than I can readily comprehend?

Answering those questions for many of us is an enormous task, while for others the answer does not matter at all, while for a few others the answer is crucial to attaining anything worthwhile or tangible in this life.

Answering above questions becomes critical because for those few individuals, every minute spent must count for something. Time is valuable and utilized to create a preferred future. Time is quantifiable and attached to achievement of worthy goals. Time must not be wasted because any time we use or waste now cannot be replaced or recovered.

I am asking you to consider the above thoughts and identify where you belong. Are you one of those people searching for that “one thing” or are you careless about what the day brings?

No matter how you look at it,where you fall in, the question, how do I move my life from where it is now to another level is vital.

My suggestions to all is that we should choose to make a difference, choose to stand for something, choose to become great, and then have the courage and enthusiasm to pursue your choice passionately.

If the above steps are followed with due dedication to details, you will undoubtedly attain your desires because you decided to do something rather than remain still.

Make that choice today to create a better future for yourself and make a better world for all.

Yours in success,

Confidence; the key to Fear

December 7, 2008

Introduction

What you fear most in your life has an uncanny habit of becoming reality.

Fear can be described as false evidence appearing real (F.E.A.R). This acronym defines what fear really is.
Fear fuels a strong belief that something we do not like or something bad will happen even when we do not have any real proof or justification for our feelings.

Your mind is programmed to absorb everything it sees but it is left to you to select what to believe and what to reject. What you feed your mind with, is what it will believe.
What is the cause of fear?
We fear the unknown, we fear because we have no real knowledge about a thing. We fear because the human mind relies on experience to achieve confidence.

* Solution to fear
Having identified the cause of fear, we can now move towards finding the solution to fear.
We fear because we do not have any record of achievement(s) to rely on in that area or thing we fear. So the key to killing the fear is to dare to do the thing we fear and gain experience in that area or thing you fear.

Let us illustrate the truth of this assertion I just made. Take the fear one gets the first time one attempts to drive. You will notice that this fear gradually wanes and fades away with daily practice until one can drive almost automatically without seeking for where the gear of the car is or where the accelerator or break is. We know almost mechanically what to do with the car and so become very confident and relaxed.

* Remedy to fear
Fear disappears when the mind gains confidence by the act of doing the task we dread. Another common illustration we can readily refer to is that of a toddler who is learning to stand and walk. When you observe the child you will notice that it fears to stand or walk but that fear does not paralyze it from trying to get up or to walk. From constant practice, that baby step will one day metamorphose into a joyful run.

The above scenario plays out in our lives daily as we attempt to do anything worthwhile. My request to all is to do that very thing that terrifies you and master fear in that area.

* Take action despite the fear
You must not freeze when you are challenged by situations you have never handled before. I urge you not to run from what you fear, but rather run towards the source of fear. If you do this you will soon discover that the fear was in you to energize you to take action to master that situation you fear.

* Conclusion
My advice to all is to attempt to do great things, make big plans, give that speech, take that medical test, go for that surgery, drive that car, and enroll for that course. Do something, do anything and don’t be immobilized by what you fear. Run towards what you fear, radiate boldness against all odds and soon fear melts away.

Stand to be counted, breast that tape, my friend because you are a winner, I say to you fear not.
